Why does the app redirect me to the web to upgrade?

Everything you need to know about the upgrade flow: why your MoveTara app opens your browser when you tap "See pricing on web", what happens during payment, and how the activated plan returns to your app.

Short version: Google Play requires digital-subscription payments to follow a specific policy, and we keep the clearest compliant path — you pay on the web, the plan activates instantly, and the app refreshes the moment it's live.

Why the mobile app doesn't sell plans directly

MoveTara subscriptions unlock in-app features (more tenants, more properties, financial reports, advanced analytics). Google's Payments Policy classifies this as digital subscription content, and developers must either use Google Play's Billing system (which takes a service fee passed through to customers) or complete the sale outside the app on the web.

We chose the second path so prices stay low and transparent. This is the same approach Netflix, Spotify, Amazon Kindle, and Zoho Books take — the app is a product surface, payment happens on the web.

What the flow looks like end-to-end

  1. You tap "See pricing on web" in the app's Choose Your Plan screen.
  2. The app generates a one-time, 10-minute upgrade link and opens it in your default browser.
  3. On movetara.com/upgrade you pick your tier, billing cycle, and optional coupon.
  4. You pay through Razorpay (card / UPI / netbanking / wallets). Razorpay is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified.
  5. The success page shows your new plan. Tap "Open MoveTara App" to return.
  6. The app confirms payment within ~1–5 seconds and navigates you to your updated plan page.

Is my payment data safe?

Yes. Card numbers, UPI IDs, netbanking credentials, and CVVs are entered directly on Razorpay's secured checkout page. They never touch MoveTara servers, are never stored in our database, and are not visible to MoveTara staff. We only store the Razorpay order ID, the amount you paid, and the GST invoice number — the minimum needed for your invoice history and compliance with Indian tax law.

What if I close the browser before paying?

Nothing happens — no charge, no subscription change. Just tap "See pricing on web" again in the app to start over. Unused upgrade links expire automatically after 10 minutes.

What if the payment succeeds but the app doesn't update?

The app re-checks your subscription status every few seconds after a payment for up to 90 seconds — longer than the slowest Razorpay confirmation we've measured. If nothing appears:

What if I'm offline or get an error mid-flow?

The app shows a specific screen for each failure mode: "You're offline" with a retry prompt, "Session expired" asking you to log in again, or a generic "Payment didn't go through" message. In every case, no charge is made unless the Razorpay confirmation completed. If you were charged and don't see the plan, email support@movetara.com with the Razorpay order ID — we'll refund or activate within one business day.

What if I use a different tablet or phone later?

Subscriptions are tied to your MoveTara account, not your device. Log into the app on any device with the same phone number and your plan will be active.

What if I want to downgrade or cancel?

Both happen inside the mobile app — no web visit needed. Go to Manage Subscription and tap "Cancel Plan" or "Schedule Downgrade". No new money is collected for these actions so they stay in the app. Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing cycle.

Can I pay with a device other than my phone?

Yes. You can also open movetara.com/upgrade directly in any browser on a laptop or tablet — log in with the same phone number, and the activation lands on all your devices automatically.
